New in the VETUS product range
New line of batteries, specially designed for marine applications,
competitively priced!
The range consists of four types of batteries:
• Marine Power Low Maintenance (LM); • Sealed Maintenance Free (SMF);
• Absorbed Glass Mat (AGM);
• GEL 2V marine batteries
The new batteries in the range of (LM, SMF, AGM) and the existing 2V GEL batteries are designed and manufactured in
Europe. This ensures a readily available supply and quality is guaranteed.
Marine Power Low maintenance batteries (LM);
Very affordable low-maintenance batteries. From this new base model, a total of 9 new models are available. These
batteries are especially suitable as starter batteries.
During the life cycle of the battery it is necessary to check the electrolyte level from time to time (annually). Depending
on the circumstances in which the battery is used, the fluid level in the battery may need to be topped up with distilled
water.

Sealed Maintenance Free batteries (SMF);
A sealed maintenance free battery which never needs to be refilled. The lids on this series of batteries internally regenerate any gas that occurs during use or charging. The battery construction is based on the use of lead-calcium plates,
which yet further reduces the water usage. The models VESMF60, 70, 85 and 105 are equipped with a “magic” eye which
indicates the state of charge.
This new line of batteries are offered instead of the current range Vetus maintenance free batteries.
In short:
• Available in 9 different models
• Never needs to be refilled
• Very limited water usage
• Low self discharge (+ / - 3%)
• The smaller models up to 105Ah include an inspection eye for an indication of the state of charge
• Suitable as a starter and as a service battery

Absorbed Glassfibre Mat batteries (AGM);
A sealed maintenance free battery which does not contain any free electrolyte. The electrolyte in the battery is absorbed
by glass fibre mat seperators between the battery plates. This means that in normal usage, the battery cannot leak.
Even in the event that the battery is accidentally dropped and the casing is damaged, the battery cannot leak as all the
electrolyte is enclosed in the glass fibre mat separators. The type of battery may even be shipped by airfreight.
This new line of batteries are offered instead of the current line of AGM batteries.
In short:
• Available in 8 different models
• The battery itself contains no free acid and cannot leak
• Battery acid is enclosed in fiberglass mats between the lead plates of the battery
• Batteries may be transported by plane
• Better suited for deeper discharge than the SMF and LM battery range

2V GEL batteries;
Gel batteries contain a semi-solid electrolyte in the form of a gel. As the electrolyte is semi-solid, no stratification (the
seperation of the active elements) of the electrolyte can occur. This has a very good effect on the life span of the battery
which is extremely long compared with other types. The battery may also be installed horizontally as the electrolyte
cannot leak. The battery design uses “tubular plates” which permit extremely deep discharge (up to 95%).

This battery has a very long life (about 18 years)
The battery pack can be assembled horizontally by the use of gel
Through the use of tubes, this construction is very suitable for extreme deep discharge (90-95%)
