Lecturer: Course Name: Office: Office Hours: E-mail: Teaching Assistant: Dr. Khaldun Mohammad Al Azzam Practical Analytical Chemistry and Instrumental Analysis (501270). Room 321, Phone: 2743 (Mon. &Wed.) 12:30 -1:30 Pm (Sun, Tue & Thu) 10:00 -11:00 Am khaldun.alazzam@iu.edu.jo Ms. Rasha Course Description: The main objective of this lab is to introduce students to the most used techniques in pharmaceuticals analysis. Moreover, students will conduct analysis using Classical methods such as titration. Additionally, the students will have the chance to apply some modern instrumental analytical methods such as spectroscopic and chromatographic methods. At the end of the course the student must be able to discuss the principle, operation, sensitivity, and limitations of each studied method. Always wear your safety goggles in the lab! Eyes are too precious to waste. 2. A lab coat to protect you and your clothing. 3. Never eat or drink in the lab! 4. Always come prepared! Students who come unprepared make more mistakes, waste time, and often get poor (and late!!) results. 5. Know where the safety equipment is located and how it operates! 6. If you make the mess, you clean it up! This especially applies to the balances and the balance area! 7. Operations that require a fume hood must be done in the fume hood! 8. Report all safety incidents to the instructor! 9. Write your raw data directly into your lab notebook! 2
