Joint Program between the Israel Science Foundation (ISF) and the National Natural Science Foundation of China (NSFC) 1. As part of the effort to strengthen the collaboration between the Israel Science Foundation (ISF) and the National Natural Science Foundation of China (NSFC), the foundations are launching a new program that sponsors joint research grants for Israeli and Chinese researchers in 2013/14. 2. The goal of the program is to cultivate research collaborations between Israeli and Chinese scientists. 3. The program is sponsored by the governments of Israel and China, through the two foundations. Each foundation sponsors its country’s leading scientist, according to its rules. The sums awarded for these grants will be up to $100,000 per year for three years, for each of the leading scientists (Israeli and Chinese). 4. Application eligibility and grant funding will be determined in accordance with the rules of each foundation. 5. The Israeli and Chinese scientists will submit a joint application (in English) to the Israel Science Foundation (by the Israeli researcher) and to the National Natural Science Foundation of China (by the Chinese researcher). The first application cycle will accept research proposals in the fields of: physics, chemistry and agriculture. 6. The Israel Science Foundation will publish the application guidelines in the near future. 7. The assessment procedure will consist of two stages: in the first stage the applications will be evaluated by each foundation according to the foundation rules. The second stage will include joint coordinated assessment of the nominated applications. 8. The deadline for submissions is November 1, 2012. 9. Guidelines and application forms will be published by each foundation by September 1, 2012.
