DRAGON FAMILY OF SIX-AXLE LOCOMOTIVES MODERN SOLUTIONS FOR RAIL TRANSPORT FAMILY OF SIX-AXLE LOCOMOTIVES DRAGON Combining their international experience with know-how gained during fifty years of modernisation and repair works of the rolling stock as well as with their own market research, designers from NEWAG Gliwice S.A. have created the first electric locomotive for driving heavy freight trains adapted to the needs of the Polish market. The Polish railway market has waited for this event for almost twenty-five years. ADAPTED FOR POLISH TRACTION CONDITIONS Tractive effort of up to 374 kN combined with the locomotive weight of 116t and with all six axles powered individually, make it possible for Dragon to pull trains of up to 4000t weight. Dragon is powered by asynchronous motors driven by IGBT-based inverters. Thanks to its 3kV DC supply system and increased durability DRAGON is perfectly adapted to difficult operating conditions and performs well in Polish circumstances. MODULAR STRUCTURE The locomotive has a modular structure which results in shorter repair times in case of defects as well as it allows for tailoring technical parameters to individual clients’ needs e.g., increasing the loco power. ON-BOARD DIAGNOSTIC SYSTEM DRAGON is equipped with a microprocessor system based on two independent data transmission networks: • • controlling – which adjusts the operating mode to changing conditions; on-board diagnostics with full visual information and a data recording module which facilitate locating or predicting potential machine defects. THE HIGHEST SAFETY LEVEL • • • integral welded structure with crumple zones; modern fire detection and extinguishing system; safety cage with anti-climbing system. ENHANCED DRIVER’S WORKING CONDITIONS • • • ergonomic layout of the driver’s cab and control panel; dual function air conditioning system; camera system. With all of the above-listed attributes, DRAGON has retained one more advantage, namely its competitive price. ENVIRONMENTALLY-FRIENDLY TECHNOLOGIES Caring for the future of our planet, designers ensured that DRAGON utilises environmentally-friendly technologies. www.newag.pl DC AXLE CONFIGURATION DC 3 kV/AC MAXIMUM TRAIN WEIGHT MAXIMUM SPEED STARTING TRACTIVE EFFORT MS DIESEL Co’ Co’ SUPPLY VOLTAGE CONTINUOUS POWER AC AC 15 kV 16 2/3 Hz AC 25 kV 50 Hz DC 3 kV AC 15 kV 16 2/3 Hz AC 25 kV 50 Hz 5 MW 2,3 MW 4 000 t 120 km/h 374kN 370kN 120 km/h 80 km/h 115 km/h 70 km/h 58 km/h 25 km/h 70 km/h 30 km/h TRAIN SPEED AT GROSS WEIGHT: - 2400t TRAIN AT 0 ‰ PROFILE - 3200t TRAIN AT 0 ‰ PROFILE - 3200t TRAIN AT 6 ‰ ELEVATION - 4000t TRAIN AT 3 ‰ ELEVATION TRACK WIDTH SERVICE WEIGHT MAXIMUM AXLE LOAD NOMINAL WHEEL TREAD DIAMETER LOCO LENGTH WITH BUFFERS CLEARANCE GAUGE 1 435 mm 116 t 196 kN 1 250 mm 20 330 mm UIC 505-1 DRAGON TECHNICAL PARAMETERS NEWAG S.A. was founded in 1876.
