Our ET 200 Safety Motor Starter solutions
are customized to your requirements.
They facilitate the safety-oriented disconnection of motors and are predestined for
virtually all applications up to Category 4
or SIL 3. Certifications in accordance with
EN 954-1 and IEC 61508 form the basis
for their universal applicability.
As part of the distributed SIMATIC ET 200
I/O system, all motor starters can be
smoothly integrated in the existing automation system via PROFIBUS or PROFINET.
The system’s finely modular architecture
ensures the optimum mapping of all applications – whether for single machines
or the entire system. Thanks to the significantly reduced configuration and wiring
expenditures, our Safety Motor Starter

Does your system require a special degree of safety due
to legal conventions or other framework conditions?
Do you want to employ several safety circuits in parallel? These requirements are perfectly mastered by the
ET 200S Safety Motor Starter Solution local. For this
purpose, the safety sensors are directly connected to
the safety modules. Depending on the selected function, these modules safely and reliably disconnect the
downstream motor starters. All safety relays, which are
obligatory in other application areas, can be dispensed
with. This also applies to additional wiring as all required connections are already contained in the system.
Moreover, all messages of the safety modules are automatically forwarded as diagnostic messages, e. g. in
case of cross-circuit in EMERGENCY STOP circuits.
Our ET 200S Safety Motor Starter Solution local offers
modules for the evaluation of EMERGENCY STOP circuits
(PM-D F1) and for the monitoring of protective doors
(PM-D F2). Also delayed disconnection is possible
(PM-D F3). With the help of the contact multiplier
(PM-D F5), safety-relevant signals can also be made
available to external signals.
For a combined application of our motor starters with
external safety relays or ASIsafe, the PM-D FX1 safety
module is employed. It facilitates the simultaneous
infeed of up to six disconnection groups, which allows
for the selective and safety-oriented disconnection of
individual failsafe motor starters.
Compared to conventional safety technology, our
ET 200S Safety Motor Starter Solution local reduces wiring expenditures by up to 80 %. This not only minimizes
the fault potential, but also significantly improves commissioning efficiency.

Options for all requirements
The failsafe motor starters are assigned to one of six
disconnection groups within an ET 200S station. In distributed systems, the selective disconnection of the failsafe motor starters is preferably realized with a superior
safety-oriented control via PROFIsafe. This facilitates
maximum flexibility in terms of the motor starters’ assignment to the various safety circuits.
If actuators are to be disconnected selectively, the failsafe motor starters are used. If, in contrast, only group
disconnection is required, both standard as well as
high-feature motor starters can be employed.
In any case, our ET 200S Safety Motor Starter Solution
PROFIsafe meets the maximum safety requirements
specified for systems up to Category 4 in accordance
with EN 954-1 or SIL 3 in accordance with IEC 61508.
Alternatively, also the ET 200S F-CPU can be employed
as an isolated solution in the safety concept (distributed
intelligence). Several of such isolated solutions can be
interconnected via PROFIsafe.
In addition, effective diagnostic functions and fast device replacement options (hot swapping) help to reduce
expensive downtimes.
The result? System availability and economic efficiency
on an unprecedented level.

For safety applications in high degrees of protection, both the
ET 200pro Safety Motor Starter Solution local and the Solution
PROFIsafe can be selected.
Dimensioned in degree of protection IP65 for maximum ruggedness,
the motor starters do away with on-site control cabinets. They are
suitable for starting, protecting and monitoring motors up to 5.5 kW.
Direct connection to PROFIBUS or PROFINET ensures overall automation transparency, which is also aided by comprehensive diagnostic
functions, e. g. for current value transmission or tripping frequency.
The modularity of the ET 200pro solution and the compact design of
the prewired load feeders ensure maximum flexibility, ease mounting
and sustainably enhance system availability.

the Safety local isolator module
Safety local isolator module and 400 V disconnecting
module thus ensures safety-oriented disconnection up
to Category 4 in accordance with EN 954-1 or SIL 3 in
accordance with IEC 61508.
The Safety local isolator module offering a safe input
and easy adjustability is characterized by maximum
reliability for safety-oriented applications. Compared to
conventional ET 200pro isolator modules, it contains
an additional integrated safety relay which processes
the various EMERGENCY STOP signals via onboard inputs. Furthermore, it supports the easy connection of
external safety components as well as single- or doublechannel EMERGENCY STOP or protective door circuits.
With the ET 200pro Safety Motor Starter Solution local,
commanding and detecting devices as well as the
signals of external safety circuits can be integrated in
a safety-oriented application with ET 200pro motor
starters. The advantages include reduced wiring expenditures and the high degree of protection IP65. A
safety-oriented application can thus be realized directly
in the system.
400 V disconnecting module
In EMERGENCY STOP cases, our Safety local isolator
module activates the downstream 400 V disconnecting
module. Based on two series-connected contactors, this
module safely disconnects the main circuit for all downstream ET 200pro motor starters. The combination of

The ET 200pro Safety Motor Starter Solution PROFIsafe is particularly
suited for complex safety-oriented applications which are realized on
the control level.
Through use of the F-Switch module, the modularity of the ET 200pro
allows for an easy conversion to PROFIsafe solutions, which are even
more compact than the Solution local concepts.

The F-Switch is a failsafe electronic module for
PROFIsafe safety applications. It is equipped with
failsafe inputs and outputs for safely switching the
24 V supply via integrated safety bars in the backplane bus. In connection with the 400 V disconnecting module, a failsafe disconnection of ET 200pro
motor starters up to Category 4 in accordance with
EN 954-1 or SIL 3 in accordance with IEC 61508 is
possible with PROFIsafe applications.

With the ET 200pro Safety Motor Starter Solution
PROFIsafe, commanding and detecting devices as
well as the signals of external safety circuits can be
integrated in a safety-oriented application with
ET 200pro motor starters. The advantages include
reduced wiring expenditures and the high degree
of protection IP65. A safety-oriented application can
thus be realized via PROFIsafe.
The 400 V disconnecting module is employed in connection with the F-Switch for PROFIsafe safety applications. It contains two series-connected contactors
for the main circuit’s safety-oriented disconnection.
The auxiliary supply of the device is realized via a
safety bar in the backplane bus module.
In case of EMERGENCY STOP, the F-Switch activates
the downstream 400 V disconnecting module. Based
on two series-connected contactors, this module
safely disconnects the main circuit for all downstream ET 200pro motor starters. The combination
of the F-Switch and 400 V disconnecting module
thus ensures safety-oriented disconnection up to
Category 4 in accordance with EN 954-1 or SIL 3 in
accordance with IEC 61508.

The comfortable Motor Starter ES parameterization software allows for the easy parameterization, commissioning, diagnostics and preventive maintenance of communication-capable
ECOFAST and SIMATIC ET 200pro motor starters as well as SIMATIC ET 200S high-feature
motor starters.
Access for parameterization is either realized via
the serial device interface or, with PROFIBUS DP-V1capable motor starters, via any point in PROFIBUS.
The starters can also be tested and controlled without
DP master. Motor Starter ES can either be operated as
stand-alone program or integrated in STEP 7 via an
object manager. For preventive maintenance, statistical data such as operating hours, switching cycles and
breaking currents can be read out.
For easy and comfortable licensing, the Motor Starter ES
software is available in three variants, which differ
in terms of operation comfort, functional scope and
price:
