Whitaker College of Engineering Florida Gulf Coast University Minimum Qualifications: Earned Doctorate in Agricultural or Biological Engineering, Environmental or Civil Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a closely related field from a regionally accredited institution or equivalent accreditation. Experience conducting research in some aspect of renewable energy engineering. ABD will be considered if degree conferred by August 7, 2014. If successful candidate is ABD, appointment will be made at a Lecturer level on a fixed contract. Preferred Qualifications: Renewable Energy Engineering experience from an environmental perspective with the ability to develop and teach a new course, fundamentals of renewable energy engineering, additional undergraduate courses in general engineering, environmental engineering, fluid mechanics, thermodynamics or heat and mass transfer, and advanced courses that highlight the candidate's expertise in renewable energy engineering. A rank-appropriate record of educational and/or scientific publications in scholarly journals and/or industrial experience. Professional registration or the ability to become registered. Ability to conduct research in some aspect of renewable energy engineering. Demonstrated ability to work in an interdisciplinary and collaborative environment in a rapidly growing regional comprehensive university with a focus on assessing and demonstrating excellence in student learning. General Summary Statement: Your initial assignment will include teaching, at both undergraduate and graduate levels, as applicable; course and/or curriculum development; research/scholarship; involvement on College and University committees and/or initiatives; as well as duties as assigned. Becomes active and involved in working with the Backe Chair on planning and implementation of research efforts in renewable energy engineering and sustainability, especially those to be initiated at the new Institute for Renewable Energy at the FGCU I-Hub and solar park.
