MECHANICAL, AEROSPACE AND BIOMEDICAL ENGINEERING Tenure Track Position in Mechanical Engineering The Department of Mechanical, Aerospace and Biomedical Engineering (MABE) at The University of Tennessee, Knoxville is seeking an exceptionally qualified candidate for a full-time appointment at the assistant professor level in mechanical engineering. All outstanding candidates with a strong background in fundamental science and engineering relevant to mechanical engineering will be considered. Areas of particular interest include, but are not limited to, additive manufacturing, computer-aided engineering (CAE), computer-aided design (CAD), robotics and process control strategies for additive manufacturing. ORNL’s Manufacturing Demonstration Facility (http://www.ornl.gov/sci/manufacturing/mdf.shtml) is operating at the cutting edge of emerging additive manufacturing technologies. The MDF provides physical and virtual tools from design to evaluation for rapidly prototyping new technologies and optimizing essential manufacturing processes. The successful candidate will have extensive opportunities to collaborate with MDF researchers. Candidates with passion for interdisciplinary research at the crossroads of design, process, materials and manufacturing are ideal. The College of Engineering is undergoing a period of substantial growth in both physical infrastructure and research expenditures as it seeks to become a Top-25 ranked Public Institution. The College presently has seven departments with 170 faculty, 2,700 undergraduates and 1,000 graduate students.
