UniTrain-I multimedia courses on electrical machines encompass the entire spectrum of electrical machines.
The motors are characterised by their open, accessible stators. These are built onto experiment cards and thus
allow a detailed view of the internal design of electrical machines. In addition, the open design makes it possible
to exchange rotors quickly and without tools.
Students taking the course are familiarised with the physical principles, the operation, properties and basic
circuitry for various machines. In many experiments the machines are put into operation and their electrical
properties measured using multimeters and oscilloscope, control units are set up and the safe usage of
electrical machines is reinforced.

List of articles:
A host of multimedia courses are available for the UniTrain-I system in the areas of electrical engineering and
electronics. Each of the courses consists of the training program, specific circuitry on one or more experiment
cards and a browser (LabSoft) for the control, management and display of the training course. UniTrain-I courses
convey practical skills by providing a theoretical basis then guiding students through numerous experimental
measurements. Experiment cards are linked to the Interface and the training program via Experimenters. With
the help of virtual instruments and power sources included with the system, circuits can be analysed and results
of measurements stored directly within the training program.

made as well as permitting unguided experimentation.

Systematic fault simulation, faults can be switched on and off by relays via the UniTrain-I bus

Interactive, HTML-based multimedia courses to provide theoretical knowledge and practical skills

Electrical machines convert electrical energy into mechanical energy or vice versa. A fundamental distinction
can be drawn between DC, AC and three-phase machines.
The machines used for training in electrical engineering are designed so that nearly all of the circuitry and drives
found in industry, commerce and at home can be conveyed in a didactic fashion in hands-on training. Using the
servo drive and braking system it is possible to easily determine all of the relevant data for electrical machines.

UniTrain-I multimedia courses in power electronics use numerous experiments and animations to explain the
design and function of various types of converters. Students taking the courses are familiarised with the various
types of power semiconductor devices and become familiar with the common circuits in which they are used.
Different types of circuits are used in a large number of experiments that deal with triggering, modulation and

A host of multimedia courses are available for the UniTrain-I system in the areas of electrical engineering and
electronics. Each of the courses consists of the training program, specific circuitry on one or more experiment
cards and a browser (LabSoft) for the control, management and display of the training course. UniTrain-I courses
convey practical skills by providing a theoretical basis then guiding students through numerous experimental
measurements. Experiment cards are linked to the Interface and the training program via Experimenters. With

Industrial drive technology 300W
Today's industrial world is no longer conceivable without controllable electrical drives. Their area of application
ranges from special high-power drives to vehicle powering, machine tooling and production machines and
includes automotive applications. In addition to the machines themselves, it is power electronics in conjunction
with automation, automatic control engineering and bus technology which are having such a great impact on the
drive's response and operating possibilities.
Unlike didactically-modified drives, this training equipment incorporates industrial components. Thus the system
focuses on the handling and operating (setting parameters) of real industrial equipment. Using the servo
drive/braking system the response of the drives can be investigated dynamically and statically and using
different working machines. The equipment is designed in the form of training panels.

This training system takes a hands-on approach to teach how a three-phase motor with a squirrel-cage rotor is
constructed. It is possible to put together a completely functional motor, the response of which can be
investigated with the aid of a machine test stand.
