The AIMM Story
In today’s world, mission must take place from all
directions to all directions. AIMM promotes the
development of personal relationships between
churches in Africa, Europe and North America to
strengthen the body of Christ and its mission
worldwide.
Congo Inland Mission, later to become Africa Inter-Mennonite
Mission, was founded in 1912, and sent its first mission workers
to Congo that same year. Decades of kingdom work bore fruit
and two churches were born: Congo Mennonite Church, and
Congo Evangelical Mennonite Church. AIMM expanded its
vision, and in the ’70s and ‘80s began ministry to the southern
Africa region, including Lesotho, Botswana, and South Africa,
focusing on relationships with African Independent Churches.
Burkina Faso ministry began in 1978, and a young Mennonite
Church is growing there. The churches planted by AIMM have
now become full partners in AIMM’s mission, and are reaching
beyond themselves. God’s kingdom has been expanded and
strengthened through AIMM during this past century. And this
is just the beginning. The AIMM story continues to unfold as
persons like yourself join in, and Christ builds His church
in
Africa and around the world.
