Product Definition / Naming Code System of Base Part Numbers – Under Vishay Material
/ Environmental Categories
Vishay has established a new Material Category Policy that groups and defines the following
material/environmental categories for its products:

The policy provides guidelines for classifying Vishay products and lists specific requirements for
respective category part number naming rules and identifications.
This Fast Fact is a revision of the previous one sent Nov 2008. As a consequence of the creation of the
new Diodes Division and in order to harmonize the nomenclature, we’re making the following changes.

1. Please note that at this stage, not all products are available in all categories.

1. BASIC DEFINITION

Part numbers of existing series that are already conformal to environmental standards will not be
changed to the new part numbering system. In such cases, any new part numbers added to these
series will follow the pattern of the legacy part number system.
Power transistor, F materials, die and wafers, GPS, power modules, High Power Discrete and
special packaging codes (example: TAP10K, or RAS) will not be considered in the environmental
part numbering system
The packaging suffix has to be modified to fit with the allowed overall length
12 digits maximum are available for part numbers in the new system
Environmental part numbers will be created upon request and subject to technical availability
Quality code will be added to the nomenclature (H = High Rel Grade – Q101) for new products
only
Datasheets will be updated in accordance with Vishay corporate guidelines.
