Leak Detection Check List Is there evidence of a possible water leak(s) in your home or business? Read your water meter at the end of the day when no more water will be used and turn humidifier(s) off. Read again in the morning before any water is used. The water level should never reach the top of the overflow tube. Drips coming out of the faucet aerator or on/off handle(s) Drips coming from outdoor faucet spout. Insert dye tablet in back roll of toilet tank and wait 15 minutes. Do not flush. If color appears in the toilet bowl, you have a leak (use dye tablets in every toilet in your home or business). DISHWASHER Number of showerheads ______ Puddle of water accumulating in the front of the appliance. Number of leaks ______ BATHTUB FAUCETS Drips coming from the tub spout, hot/cold water handles(s). Number of bathtubs ______ Number of leaks ______ BATHROOM FAUCETS Drips coming out of faucet aerator or on/off handle(s). Number of bathroom sinks ______ Number of leaks ______ Kitchen faucet appears to have a leak. Dishwasher appears to have a leak. ______ yes ______ no LAUNDRY ROOM/WASHING MACHINE Water dripping down the outside of the washing machine or a pool of water around the washing machine. Washing machine appears to have a leak ______ yes ______ no Irrigation system appears to have a leak. ______ yes ______ no HUMIDIFIER – FURNACE OR STAND ALONE Substantial amount of water on the floor around the humidifier. Water heater appears to have a leak ______ yes ______ no PIPING UNDERNEATH BATHROOM SINKS Drips coming from piping or wet, damp areas underneath the sink.
