Tyco Electronics' C-Band Gain Flattened
EDFA is a low-cost, compact, and flexible
optical amplifier solution optimized for a
variety of applications within your network
systems or subsystems. The low cost,
optimized gain flatness and high gain
profile enables its use as an inline
amplifier for DWDM metro and long haul
applications. It is capable of signal gains
up to 25 dB with a typical gain flatness of
+/- 0.5 dB and total output power of up to
+13 dBm.
This heightened performance EDFA is available as a cooled inline amplifier with
powerful integrated control electronics or a gain block with input and/or output
monitoring capabilities to meet your needs. The control electronics design includes a
built-in laser and TEC drive circuit with alarms and monitors. The optional RS-232
electrical interface module and included software bundle are designed for control,
ease of use, integration, and/or evaluation in your laboratory.

The Tyco Electronics C-Band EDFA can be bundled with an RS-232 control interface and software control package
allowing the customer the flexibility to experiment with various module parameters through a PC. Parameters such
as EDFA / laser drive currents, input and output power levels, and EDFA gain are all dynamically configurable and
this allows the user to choose appropriate drive currents to achieve the desired output power.
The Tyco Electronics C-Band EDFA module with integrated control electronics and software is an all-in-one solution
that offers all the above functionality within one GUI window via the RS-232 interface module to a PC. Drive current
information, input and output optical power, EDFA gain, and module temperature are all displayed continuously and
updated dynamically.
Data can be stored in a text file (* .txt) in the following format::
