SCHOLARSHIP APPLICATION FOR STUDENTS
ORGANIZING THEIR EXCHANGE INDEPENDENTLY 2012 – 2013
The scholarship is meant for Aalto University School of Business BSc or MSc degree program student who
is organizing his/her exchange studies independently (a so-called Free Mover student). The Free Mover
scholarship for the academic year 2012-2013 is 1500 euros. The conditions for granting the scholarship are:

Free Mover scholarship cannot be applied for to go to a university that has an official BSc/MSc
exchange agreement with Aalto University School of Business.
The scholarship cannot be received twice for the same degree.
Studying abroad must be full-time.
Studies completed during the exchange period will be included mainly in the degree studies as an
International Study Module which is marked on the HOPS.
The student will complete a full-time workload (according to the local university workload) of
academic level courses in the field of economics and business administration. In Europe it is 30
ECTS.
The International Study Module must consist of courses outside your major subject studies (it is a
minor and therefore cannot include major subject courses).
The exchange studies cannot consist of practical training or thesis writing.
Bachelor’s exchange period consists of Bachelor level studies and Master’s exchange period
consists of Master level studies.
The student will ask for approval for all course changes from the International Student Services
immediately when changes occur.
The student will send the travel report to the International Student Services at the latest 2 months
after the end of the exchange and will send the official transcript as soon as it is possible.
The chosen courses have not been completed before.
Scholarship application periods for the academic year 2012-2013

The scholarship must be applied for before leaving to study abroad. The student should hand in the
signed scholarship application by 16.15 on the deadline date. Return the application to the International
Student Services post-box in the main building lobby or sent by post to the International Student Services
Office. All application appendixes must be at the International Student Services Office two weeks after the
deadline for the application. The scholarship will not be given out after the study period abroad. The vice
dean makes the decision on granting the scholarship. The student will be informed about the
approval/rejection of the scholarship application. A copy of the scholarship decision will also be sent to
the study grant office.
The granted scholarship will be paid in two parts. The first part (1200 €) will be paid (within possibilities)
before leaving for exchange. The second part (300 €) will be paid when the student has returned and
submitted the travel report and a copy of the official transcript of records to the International Student
Services. The studies must fulfill the conditions set and be completed with passing grades. If the student
does not fulfill the conditions set for the scholarship, he/she is obliged to refund all or a part of the
scholarship.
