Center Marketing Coordinator (Graduate Assistantship)
APPLICATION DEADLINE: Review of applications will begin immediately and will continue until position
is filled.
SALARY RANGE: $9,000 stipend plus tuition waiver for a maximum of 9 credits per semester of
appointment, split evenly between semesters.
DATES OF APPOINTMENT: August 15, 2011 – May 4, 2012; excluding academic break periods.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
The Women’s Center at Minnesota State University, Mankato is a seeking creative, enthusiastic graduate
student who is interested in working in a collaborative environment to gain a variety of student-focused
programming experiences.
The Marketing Coordinator responsibilities include:
 Will write, format, and disseminate the Women’s Center monthly newsletter
 Will maintain and update the Women’s Center website
 Will coordinate information to marketing venues on and off campus to advertise our programming
 Will assist staff in promoting events
 Will provide public presentations on occasion
 Will represent the Women’s Center at events and information fairs, focusing on communicating
the mission and purpose of the Women’s Center.
 Will participate in weekly staff meetings and weekly supervision with the Director.
 Other duties as assigned
Note:
Extensive training (the week before school starts in the fall) will be provided to ensure that
selected candidates will be able to excel in these positions while learning, developing, and
growing professionally. Applicants should address interest in and/or qualifications related to

QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED:
 Must have a Bachelor's degree and be enrolled in a Master's degree program at MSU, Mankato
that is relevant to this position (e.g., Student Affairs, Communications, Women’s Studies)
 Must be enrolled for at least six graduate credits per semester.
 Applicants should have a commitment to diversity, an understanding of the complexity of work
related to women’s issues, an advanced understanding of feminism, highly developed
interpersonal skills, and a willingness to learn and work in a collaborative environment.
OTHER CONSIDERATIONS:
 Preference will be given to those applicants who have experience with marketing or with gender
and diversity initiatives.
RELATED INFORMATION:
The Women’s Center is a student-centered office within the division of Institutional Diversity. We value
project sharing and collaborative group work, seeking to serve our diverse student population as
effectively as possible. The Center balances outreach to the campus community (in the form of providing
events, activities, speakers, and conversation) with response to student needs (through discussion
groups, sexual violence advocacy, and one-to-one services). We offer students an atmosphere rich in
support, resources, connection, and advocacy, as well as opportunities to collaborate on programs and
learn about teamwork. Office staffing is comprised of a director, violence awareness coordinator, office
manager, graduate assistants, student employees, interns, and volunteers.
Contingent upon satisfactory performance and available funds, there is a possibility that this appointment
may be continued beyond the initial period of employment.
