POSITION: Graduate Assistantship: Student Activities—Community Engagement Office
APPLICATION DEADLINE: Priority consideration will be given to applications received by February 1,
2015, which is also the application deadline for admission to the Counseling and Student Personnel
Master’s Program in College Student Affairs. Students applying to that program do not need to submit
separate GA application materials to be considered for this position. All other applicants must
following the application procedures below. Applications will be accepted until March 1 or until the
position is filled, whichever occurs first.
SALARY: Full-time assistantship (20 hours per week) with $4,500 stipend for each semester of
appointment, out of- state tuition waiver and waiver of tuition charges for up to 9 graduate credits per
semester. Appointments made after the tenth day of classes are not eligible for tuition waiver.
RESPONSIBILITIES: Work with the Assistant Director of Community Engagement, student workers, student
leaders and volunteers to further the mission of CEO within the University mission. Additional areas of
responsibility include: program planning, risk management, leadership training, group dynamics,
promotion/marketing, volunteer management, and advising. Key areas of responsibility may include:
 Advising Campus Kitchen student leadership, including weekly one-on-one meetings.
 Attend weekly meetings.
 Assist with the planning Remember November, Alternative Spring Break, the Big Event, and other
events.
 Facilitate event based assessment and reflection system.
 Technology coordination including website development, volunteer and social media design.
 Site Leader selection, training, and advising.
 Assist with ASB /CEO related events in committee recruitment and member/volunteer
development.
 Development of student learning outcomes and outcomes based assessment.
 Facilitate and develop group dynamic building sessions for ASB.
 Facilitate Campus Kitchen volunteer and leader reflection.
 Develop and implement board leadership training throughout the semester and at retreats.
 Identify and develop key institutional partnerships for co-operative programming.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
 Bachelor’s degree.
 Prior program planning, development and implementation experience.
 Admitted to Minnesota State University graduate program by start date.
 Enrolled in a minimum of six (6) credits per semester during assistantship, and in good academic
standing.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
 Prior experience with volunteer coordination.
 Enrollment in the Counseling & Student Personnel, Educational Leadership, or Experiential
Education Master’s programs.
 Experience leading and/or working with college programs.
 Attention to detail, professionalism, and dependability.
 Excellent communication skills.
 Ability to work independently and as team member.
 Embraces the vision, mission and core values of Student Activities.
 Exceptional decision-making skills.
 Demonstrated commitment to fostering a diverse working and learning environment.

that this appointment may be continued beyond the initial period of employment. Graduate Assistants
must enroll in a required of six credits per semester. Graduate Assistants with a summer appointment
