AMMO Chief’s Association, Virginia Chapter
2005 Annual Report
16 January 2006
After another successful year, the Virginia Chapter of the AMMO Chief’s Association
(ACA) submits the following 2005 Annual Report.
During 2005 the membership gathered on five occasions to hold meetings, socialize, and
plan the current and next year’s events. Our time was dominated by planning efforts for the
annual Worldwide AMMO Bowl XII softball tournament, held at Langley AFB, Virginia for the
first time. The event, hosted by the ACAVC, was a major task well worth the time and effort
invested. Unfortunately, participation was hampered by an operational commitment that
shortened the tournament to just one day! Those that were able to attend had a good time and
witnessed a memorable first class softball tournament, with plenty of food and drinks for all. The
20th EMS at Shaw AFB, SC won this year’s tournament. The 1st EMS at Langley provided the
majority of support for this event. Mr. “TJ” Jensen and Jeff Bunny spent many hours setting up
the support and ball fields for this event. We look forward to the next Worldwide AMMO Bowl
XIII tournament at Langley during September 2-4, 2006.
During the year, the Chapter collected $275.00 in ACAVC dues and collected and
disbursed $200.00 to the ACA dues. We disbursed $450.00 during the year, as we donated to the
Richard Gauvin Memorial Fund and to a Sra’s family from Seymour-Johnson that was killed in a
vehicle accident. In addition we collected $500.00 in fundraisers from Chapter coin sales,
AMMO Bowl softball shirt sales and Burger burns. The coin is a huge success.
The ACAVC known membership base during 2005 was 21 people, representing all
possible Chiefs in the surrounding states. Of the 21, 11 are members in good standing, 9 are
inactive, and 1 has relocated away from the ACAVC membership area. We continue to include
all inactive Chiefs in e-mailings and information concerning Chapter events and gatherings in the
hopes they will join the membership and participate in Chapter activities. CMSgt. Michael
Robertson continually updated the ACAVC web site during 2005 to help keep our membership
informed. http://uk.geocities.com/ammochf/index.html
Due to the ACAVC membership being spread out over four states (VA, MD, NC, and
DE) and the District of Columbia, it is difficult to gather in force at meetings and events, but we
plan for an active agenda in 2006. We have begun planning for the ACAVC yearly recognition
and awards program at five local munitions areas (Seymour-Johnson AFB, NC, Pope AFB, NC,
Langley AFB, VA, Dover AFB, DE, and Andrews AFB, MD). We will have our first quarterly
meeting on 11 March 2006 at HQ ACC/LGW Conference Room at Langley AFB, VA. There’s a
planned election for the Vice-President’s office during mid-2006. Members have been informed
of the upcoming ACA Reunion in Reno, Nevada; October 5-8, 2006 and we expect a significant
showing of Chapter members. We will continue to meet, socialize, and have fun while working
towards enhancing the spirit and drive of the Munitions Community and to keep the AMMO
Flame burning bright!!
