(Notebook.doc) Collecting DTP samples Much of what we learn in DTP, we learn by imitation. To facilitate that imitation, I am asking you to collect both ‘good’ and ‘poor’ examples of (printed) DTP documents. You may supply either (black & white) photocopies or originals. If color is an essential feature of the document, you will need to supply either a color photocopy or the original. Please supply annotations or attach notes (Post It notes work well), identifying salient elements of the document and demonstrating your expertise with the conventions of document design and desktop publishing. You may also choose to keep a notebook containing your thumbnail sketches of documents as well as your notes about document design. Your folder should contain multiple samples from at least 10 or more of the following types of documents: advertisements or product descriptions or product literature brochures FAQs flyers forms instructions letters or memos newsletters policies/procedures proposals research/journal articles reports resumes websites Your may also include (photocopies of sample pages from) book-length materials. I expect a preponderance of materials that correspond to your final project. I also expect annotations or informal notes relating to your final project. Evaluation Your folder of samples or notebook is due at the time of your conference (3 rd week) and is worth 50 points: number and kinds of documents (20 points) annotations or notes (20 points) sample documents and notes pertaining to final project (10 points)
