Buffalo County Cooperative Extension Youth Development Intern Program Overview UW Extension Cooperative Extension’s purpose to which we commit...we teach, learn, lead and serve, connecting people with the University of Wisconsin and engaging with them in transforming lives and communities. The Buffalo County Youth Development Intern will serve as a member of the County UWExtension educator team. The Intern will focus their work on one or two major areas such as volunteer development, communications, youth leadership, educational resource development, creation of new youth development program initiatives, after-school programs, initiatives for at-risk youth, evaluation. Position Responsibilities: Serve as a member of the Buffalo County UW-Extension educator team Prepare and deliver reports to the county Extension Education Committee, County Board of Supervisors, and other community stakeholders as requested by the Buffalo County UW-Extension department heads Concentrate internship efforts on the program focus agreed upon between the Intern and the 4-H Youth Development Agent. Maintain standards of behavior that present a positive image of UW-Extension Cooperative Extension during intern work time and outside of work time Make all reasonable effort to reach a diverse audience, to ensure access to programs and facilities Participate in daily office responsibilities Qualifications Minimum age 18 Minimum of one year post-secondary education Undergraduate or graduate student working towards a college or technical degree in a related field Excellent organizational skills including the ability to coordinate program details and organize workloads Competence working with Microsoft Office programs and the internet Ability to work in a context of individual and cultural differences Ability to schedule occasional evening and weekend work to fulfill responsibilities of position Ability to be self-directed and self-motivated Transportation adequate to fulfill positions responsibilities Ability to communicate ideas effectively verbally, in writing, and through educational technology to both youth and adults Commitment to a team work environment Ability to promote Cooperative Extension and its programs through mass media and public relations skills Experience in program development Direct Supervisor Annie Lisowski, 4-H Youth Development Agent/Department Head An EEO/Affirmative Action employer, University of Wisconsin-Extension provides equal opportunities in employment and programming, including Title IX requirements. Any travel and expenses related to the work of the position will be reimbursed. (No travel reimbursement will be made from campus to the internship site.)
