STEMI ED PROTOCOL
STEMI’s - Goal: Door to Balloon < 90 mins
STEMI pager is: 123-7400.
Use WebXchange to page this number (enter the number in the Quick Page box)
Enter:
STEMI ED Bed _____ (or EMS) Activate Cath Lab. Cath Lab Call CCU 6-5421.
Paging this number will initiate a sequence of events:
o A group STEMI page will be sent to
 Cardiology Fellow on call who should call back within 5 minutes to the ED to
confirm they received the page. If not page again or call them directly.
 Cath Lab staff on call
 CCU charge nurse
 House supervisor
o An individual page will be sent to the Cardiology attending by the Cardiology Fellow
o A callback system will be in place whereby each of the above individuals will call the
CCU. If the CCU has not heard from an individual within 5 minutes, they will notify the
cardiology fellow who will attempt to contact that person or an alternate.
You may page this number based on the EMS report alone. Cases that are NOT felt to be
STEMIs but you want the Cardiologist to weigh in may be paged to the fellow on call.
