Chapter Recognition Program 2015 BAYLOR UNIVERSITY GREEK LIFE Herbert H. Reynolds Recognition Program The purpose of the Herbert H. Reynolds Recognition Program (HHR) is to recognize exceptional accomplishments in Greek Life at Baylor University. The Department of Student Activities is committed to the overall development of the men and women contributing to Baylor and strives to facilitate a dynamic community of learning, service, and social responsibility. This document, and its subsequent outcomes, will provide useful information and will serve as a guide for setting chapter goals and developing a variety of programming to enhance your members’ experience. Review Process Each chapter, under the guidance of their respective council, will submit a report to the Department of Student Activities by Thursday, February 4th by 5pm. A review board consisting of Baylor faculty, staff, or other knowledgeable constituents will perform review of the reports. Each report will be evaluated (0-100%) on content for the recognition process. The materials, documentation, and descriptions will be evaluated against each of the criteria. Those evaluating the reports will also make note of those chapters whose materials are more complete, more descriptive, and those who are worthy of recognition. The evaluation will be tabulated and the chapters will be given the following designations: 1. Excellent Chapters 2. Gold Achievement 3. Silver Achievement 4. Bronze Achievement The feedback provided to each organization will focus on celebrating excellence in chapter governance and significant contributions to the Baylor and Waco communities. This report is intended to assist chapters in planning how to enhance operations and how to meet a standard of excellence indicative of the Baylor Greek community. This report is required of each organization Greek organization. Chapters that do not submit an HHR report are subject to lose their active registration status. 1 Chapter Recognition Program 2015 Excellent Chapters This is awarded to the top fraternity and sorority at Baylor within each of the four councils. These chapters will be considered exceptional in all categories of the Herbert H. Reynolds Recognition Program. These chapters will be recognized as top chapters and will be recognized at the Student Organization Leadership Awards ceremony. These chapters will also receive $500.00 per chapter. Gold Achievement: This is awarded to an unspecified number of chapters that display excellence in 90% of the HHR Program. All chapters receiving Gold recognition are eligible for Excellence distinction. These chapters will be recognized as top chapters and will be recognized at the Student Organization Leadership Awards ceremony. Silver Achievement: This is awarded to chapters that display excellence in 80% of the HHR Program. These chapters meet the expectations that Baylor has for its Greek organizations. In an effort to continue the tradition of excellence with Greek organizations at Baylor, the review board will provide concise and constructive feedback for these chapters to set goals and strategies for overall improvement. Bronze Achievement: This is awarded to chapters that display excellence in 70% of the HHR Program. These chapters meet the expectations that Baylor has for its Greek organizations. In an effort to continue the tradition of excellence with Greek organizations at Baylor, the review board will provide concise and constructive feedback for these chapters to set goals and strategies for overall improvement. Note: In selecting award winners, the application packet will be evaluated on both the quantity of points received in each category and the quality of the material submitted. The following Chapter Officers may be requested to meet with the Review Board: President Vice President (this will be the person that would assume the role of President if the President is not there) One Student Organization Advisor Other officers may be requested to meet with the review board The report submitted should cover the 2015 calendar year (Fall 2015 & Spring 2015). 2 Chapter Recognition Program 2015 DIRECTIONS FOR COMPLETING THE ASSESSMENT All applications must be submitted no later than February 4, 2016. Each application must be typed and submitted in a three-ring binder. Applications that are not in this format will be considered invalid. Please follow the instructions below as you prepare your application. Supporting documentation should follow each section where indicated. These documents can include minutes, agendas, event registration, programs, flyers, etc. The report must be reviewed by the chapter president and chapter advisor(s). Make certain that dividers are used to separate all supporting information into the particular section. Be concise, but be sure to include enough data to create a complete understanding of the expectations of that section. Include documentation of programming, activities, and events that go beyond what is requested. The committee would like to know what chapters are doing that is above and beyond what is required. The application should be completed in a manner that positively reflects your organization. Please do not submit an incomplete or disorganized application. Documentation should be free of grammatical and spelling errors. 3 Chapter Recognition Program 2015 LEADERSHIP DEVELOPMENT PART 1 1. Successful fraternity and sorority chapters have a clearly defined mission and vision for the organization. Yes____ No____ Does your chapter have a mission statement?
