Milestone #1- Register, Survey, and Brainstorming For this milestone teams will need to register for Innoventure by filling out the registration form on the home page of the Innoventure website. Your team will need to create a four (4 question minimum survey that will help you have an understanding of what products customers need. Your team will need to survey five (5) people and record their survey questions in and the answers. Teams can retype the questions and answers in a Word document, you can scan the surveys and upload them as PDFs or JPEGs, or you can take pictures of the surveys and upload them as JPEGS. For your submission all surveys will need to be emailed to innoventure@nmsu.edu by 11:59 p.m. on September 11, 2015. Milestone #2- Product Selection For milestone #2 you will need to narrow down the ideas you and your team have brainstormed to your top three ideas. Once you have your top three ideas, you will need to compare and contrast them and decide on the product that will make the most successful business. For your submission, you will need to submit a completed graphic organizer (you can find this by clicking on the Calendar link, scrolling to the bottom of the Milestone #2 description, and clicking on the PDF link) and uploading it to the Dropbox link sent to your team by 11:59 p.m. on September 25, 2015. You can type the information in the organizer, print it out and scan it, or type up the information in a document. Choose what works best for you and your team. Milestone #3- Key Activities and Key Resources* Milestone #3 asks you to think about the things you will need to do a.k.a. Key Activities and Key Resources needed in order to get your business going. Your key activities are similar to a “to-do” list for your business. What things do you need to do to get your business going? Do you need to complete research on white boards in classrooms? Do you need to speak with your principal and see what steps need to be taken to integrate your product in a classroom? Do you need to go to Home Depot and price silicone caulking to put together your product? To identify your key resources you will need to think about what role each person on your team plays in the company. For your submission complete the Key Activities and Key Resources portion in the Business Model Canvas Reflection Template. Your template will need to be uploaded to the Dropbox link sent to your team by 11:59 p.m. on October 9, 2015. Milestone #4- Value Provided/ Fall Feedback For your Fall Feedback submission your team will need to complete the Value Provided section of the Business Model Canvas Template. Your Fall Feedback will need to be uploaded to the Dropbox link sent to your team. The deadline for Fall Feedback is 11:59 p.m. on October 23, 2015. *Note: Fall Feedback is the process used to determine which teams continue on to the final competition. All teams continuing on to the final competition will receive notice from the Innoventure Directors. Milestone #5 Customer/Customer Relationships Milestone #5 is an easy one, but it requires some thought. For this milestone your team needs to consider who your customers are and how you will keep them. For your submission complete the Customer and Customer Relationships portion in the Business Model Canvas Reflection Template. Your template will need to be uploaded to the Dropbox link sent to your team by 11:59 p.m. on November 6, 2015. Milestone #6 Technical Sketches For this milestone your team will need to submit technical drawings of your prototype. There are several ways that you can submit them. You can sketch them out with pen and paper and scan them. You can use an online program like Google Sketchup or smartdraw.com. You can also use a program like AutoCad. If you use AutoCad, you will need to export your designs to a pdf or take a screen shot and upload them as a JPEG or GIF. Please make sure that the sketches include measurements and labels. All technical sketches need to be uploaded to the Dropbox link emailed to your team by 11:59 p.m. on November 20, 2015. Milestone #7 Evaluating Market Tools For this milestone your team will need to evaluate several marketing tools and determine which tool will be the best to promote your product. To help you evaluate each of the marketing tools, we have developed a graphic organizer (at the bottom of this description). For your milestone submission you will need to upload the milestone graphic organizer ((you can find this by clicking on the Calendar link, scrolling to the bottom of the Milestone #2 description, and clicking on the PDF link) to the Dropbox folder link sent to your team by 11:59 p.m. on December 11, 2015. Milestone #8 Key Partners To complete Milestone #9 your team will need to complete the Key Partners section of the Business Model Canvas Template. This part of your template must be uploaded to the Dropbox folder link sent to your team by 11:59 p.m. January 22, 2016. Milestone #9: Channels For this milestone teams will need to develop a business name, a business slogan, and decide on a marketing tactic (using the graphic organizer matrix for Milestone #7). This information will need to be uploaded to the Dropbox link emailed to your team by 11:59 p.m. on February 12, 2016. Milestone #10: Materials List and Cost Every business needs to think about materials and costs associated with developing their product. Milestone 10 helps you organize your materials and determine what your team has spent creating your prototype. Your costs should also be a factor when pricing your product. To organize your materials and costs, complete the graphic organizer found at the end of the milestone description on the Calendar page of the Innoventure website. For your submission you will need to upload your graphic organizer to the Dropbox folder link sent to your team by 11:59 p.m. on February 26, 2016. Milestone #11: Testing Prototype For this milestone your team will need to create a video that shows your testing some aspect of your prototype. If the prototype works as anticipated, your team will need to explain what was successful and why it was a success. If the prototype does not work as anticipated, your team will need to explain what modifications will need to be made and how this will lead to a successful prototype. To complete your submission, email your YouTube link to innoventure@nmsu.edu by 11:59 p.m. March 4, 2016. Milestone #12: Revenue and Benefits All of your hard work has paid off! This the last section of your Business Model Canvas Template! For this milestone you will need to complete the Revenue and Benefits section of your Business Model Canvas Template. Submit your section by uploading it to the Dropbox folder link emailed to your team by 11:59 p.m. March 18, 2016 Milestone #13: Owning Your Information Information regarding this milestone will be available closer to the Milestone deadline. The deadline for this milestone is 11:59 p.m. April 4, 2016 Milestone #14 Presentation Video For this milestone your team will need to submit a video of yourselves practicing your oral presentation. You do not need to submit your PowerPoint or Prezi; however, you can use it in your video if you find it helpful. Copy and paste the YouTube link to a Word document and upload the document to the Dropbox folder link sent to your team 11:59 p.m. on April 15, 2016. Milestone #15 Final Business Model Canvas This milestone is an easy one! Your team will need to submit your complete Business Model Canvas for the final competition. Make sure every section is complete, free of grammatical and spelling errors, and really shows off your business. All submissions will need to be uploaded to the Dropbox folder link that was sent to your team by 11:59 p.m. on April 29, 2016. Late submissions will not be accepted.
