Credit assignment Strengthening Literacy Skills with Primary Sources Consider the units/topics you will teach in the fall, and choose either a fiction or nonfiction book appropriate for inclusion into that unit. Develop a comprehensive lesson plan incorporating your book and the accompanying primary sources which enhance student understanding of the text. This comprehensive plan will include: _____The worksheet connecting teaching resources and strategies to lesson plan (this will be the competed in-class assignment). _____The collection tool—available on the TPS online agenda available at www.UNCO.edu/tps. You will need to “collect” a minimum of 6 primary sources of at least 3 genres. _____The completed lesson plan template—available on the TPS online agenda available at www.UNCO.edu/tps. Be especially clear on the step-by-step procedure for your lesson. _____A sample of the product you will ask your students to complete. _____The rubric you will use to assess the final student product which measures your students’ achievement of the selected standards. _____Your plan—in a short paragraph—for your implementation of your lesson with your students. Please put an X on the line before each item as you complete it to ensure your submission is complete. Attendance on the final day includes completing the lesson plan, using the template provided; completing the collection tool; finishing the student sample; and creating the assessment rubric. Grades are S (satisfactory) or U (unsatisfactory. Participants’ final assignments will be evaluated by the facilitators for completeness, clarity, and for revision according to suggestions from peer reviewers/facilitators.
