MBTI Utopia’s I was thinking about how MBTI type and a person's moral code correlate, and I came to the conclusion that the T/F and J/P divides are the most important when it comes to how personality type shapes a person's values. This is my best guess as to what the "perfect society" for FJs, FPs, TJs and TPs would look like. FJs' primary moral value is Harmony, being Fe-doms and Fe-auxes. Like TJs they highly value order, and I think the sort of order that an FJ utopia would have would be one where everyone gets along, respects each other, is polite and works hard. The advantages of FJ ethics are that FJs highly value loyalty, courtesy, chivalry, and duty. I would also argue that FJs are the least egocentric of the four groups. The main disadvantage of FJ ethics is that their Fe can sometimes lead them to agree with values and systems that are unjust, due to fear of disturbing the peace. Another way FJ can be "toxic" is when an FJ resents another person for not living up to their own standards, or tries to change them (for example I've noticed that FJs sometimes see Ps' tolerance for disorder in their environment as being a flaw in their personality, rather than a preference). FPs' primary moral value is Mercy. Being Fi-doms and Fi-auxes, FPs tend to believe that everyone should be valued for who they are, regardless of what they are. This sentiment leads many FPs to have a soft spot for the downtrodden and those that are regarded as having lower value by some, such as animals and minorities. The FP utopia would be a world where everyone was respected for who they are and there was no prejudice or inequality. The advantages of FP ethics are that FPs highly value equality, forgiveness, authenticity and honesty. The main disadvantage of FP ethics is that FPs have a tendency to shun those who have different beliefs, and have a tendency to often think in black and white when it comes to what the "right" beliefs are. The "toxic" FP can take on a Messiah complex and believe they are superior to others because of the beliefs they have. TJs' primary moral value is Justice. Sharing FP's Fi but lower down on the function list, TJ morality tends to come from deeply personal and guarded values that may not be as immediately apparent as they are with FPs. TJs tend to believe that a person should be valued in proportion to their merits and contributions, such as how ethical, competent, intelligent, or productive they are. The TJ utopia would be a world where people's position in society corresponded with their value to others. The advantages of TJ ethics are that TJs highly value fairness, accountability, diligence and reliability. The main disadvantage of TJ ethics is that some TJs may not see merit where it exists or may see it where it doesn't, due to personal biases or prejudices. The "toxic" TJ can be ruthless, easily finding fault and blame in others and acting impatiently. TPs' primary moral value is Liberty. Sharing FJ's Fe but lower down on the function list, TPs are also interested in a sort of harmony, but of a different sort. Libertarians in the truest sense, TPs tend to believe in the minimalist Wiccan principle of "do as you will; harm none", and apply it to both themselves and others. The TP utopia would be a world where everyone was allowed to do what they wanted as long as they didn't hurt anyone else in the process. TPs are Epicureans that want themselves and others to be able to pursue pleasure. TPs tend to take offense when things that are harmless such as cannabis smoking and gay marriage are outlawed. The advantages of TP ethics are that TPs highly value freedom, open-mindedness, truth and competence. The main disadvantage of TP ethics is that some TPs are such strong believers in liberty that they underestimate the value of rules, or feel the rules don't apply to them. A "toxic" TP can be careless, thinking little about how their actions affect others. TLDR; FJs like order in the form of people getting along and doing their share; FPs like people being equal and respected for who they are; TJs like seeing merit and accomplishment be rewarded; TPs like for everyone to be able to pursue happiness as long as they don't make others unhappy.
