Hourly Wage: $27.32/hr (negotiable, depending on experience) Planned Start Date & End Date: July 1, 2016 - June 30, 2017 (subject to renewal) Date of Posting: (post for 5 working days minimum) May 9, 2016 Deadline to Apply: May 13, 2016 PRIMARY DUTIES In collaboration with the Project Director, Project Planning Committee (PPC) and Student Mentorship Committee (SMC), oversee the administration and the financial aspects of the project and is responsible for the day-to-day management. Ensure project milestones are met and that all financial transactions are in compliance with the Social Sciences and Humanities Research Council of Canada (SSHRC) granting requirements. Key areas of responsibility: Maintain strong partnership relationships within a team of 24 Co-Applicants, 9 University Partners (5 Faculties within McGill including Dentistry, Law, Management, Arts and Education); 14 Community Partners; and 13 Collaborators; Act as liaison between the Project Director, PPC, SMC and various internal McGill University offices (Faculty of Education’s Financial Service Team, Office of Sponsored Research and Financial Services). Accurately monitor the budget, provide budget projections, progress reports and annual reports to Project Director, SSHRC and Partners. Organize travel, local/symposia, national and international conferences between various locations for project partners. Provide/locate on-the-spot technical and walk-through support to team partners and research students as the project develops. Monitor project activity progress to ensure that activities are completed according to schedule, resolve problems, and address delays. Ensure that project activities and spending comply with SSHRC administrative policies and administrative regulations. Draft correspondence and answers grant-related queries. Contribute to and manage the project website. Work with the Project Director to assign duties and administer the research assistants and others working on project activities; Organize team meetings and conference calls and ensure notes are taken. Oversee and follow-up on all project-related meetings Oversee the development and production of non-academic and plain language materials related to the learning technologies 1 Assist in development of ethics proposals pursuant to Tri-Council ethics compliance and track the requirements for renewals and approvals across different host institutions. Develop and maintain a system to coordinate and track knowledge mobilization initiatives, ensuring proper credit is given to researchers, Project Leads, and SSHRC. Contribute to creating funding proposals Other duties as assigned. EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE For Project Manager– minimum requirement: Master’s Master’s Degree in Education, Law (especially Human Rights); Policy Studies; Management, Information Studies, Communications and Social Media; Journalism and Critical Media Literacy; Arts Education and Critical Studies in Popular Culture; Digital Humanities, Gender Studies. Psychology, International Relations, Experience in the management and administration of projects. OTHER QUALIFYING SKILLS & ABILITIES Excellent communication skills with an ability to edit and proficiency in minute taking. Strong problemsolving and organizational skills with an ability to prioritize and multi-task. Proven ability to monitor the budget, monitor spending and provide budget projections. Ability to work independently and consultatively. Strong team management skills and proven flexibility in working within a network, in this case, co-investigators, research students, and the overall project team. Proven experience assigning duties and overseeing the work of multi-disciplinary research assistants an asset. Ability to work in a PC environment using specialized databases, word processing, spreadsheets, presentation software, email, and the Internet. Knowledge of activity keeping tools (Numbers for Mac, Google Sheets). Experience with McGill Marketplace, Minerva & Web-based financial reports an asset. Technical web creation/design/data management skills. Knowledge of HTML/CSS, Wix, Weebly, Wordpress.com, Drupal an asset. Knowledge of computer-mediated technologies, such as iPads, iPods, Mac an asset. English (spoken and written) and French (spoken and written).
