• Evaluation (via Qualtrics link) is sent to all
students engaged and on record in UGR
• The evaluation is sent at the end of the
semester with 2 additional reminders
• We had a 66% response rate; however, not all

Please describe the most important thing you gained
from this experience.
Text Response
How to give standardized tests
I gained a lot of insight about the field that I will be going into.
I gain knowledge into the IRB process
Practical experience administering assessments used by professionals in my field.
New knowledge on areas of research I had never know about. Great understanding of qualitative
research vs quantitative research.
Good
I learned the importance of the role of research in all apects of education.
I gained knowledge on how to better present my poster. For example, I was complimented on the fact
that I stood behind my poster, yet was accepting of their helpful comments. Feedback on my poster
was very much appreciated.
I learned much about the research process such as IRB Approval, writing, data collection, data entry,
etc. I also learned how to present the material in an effective manner when giving a quick run-down of
the project to someone with no previous knowledge of the experiment.
I gained a lot of insight about muscle physiology. It was a very new area of study for me and I was
initially concerned about how I will easily pick up the fundamentals needed to successfully complete
research experiments, etc but my mentor and direct PhD supersivor were instrumental in this process.
It was worth the experience.
The basics of research and also the scientific method
Please describe the impact this experience
has had on your career/education goals.

Showed me an area that SLPs can do
I gained a lot of valuable experience that applies to my future career.
This has motivated me to pursue more research
It's allowed me to work directly with a faculty member to receive valuable mentorship and knowledge
in my future career.
Very beneficial
It has helped me grow to become more active in my education.
I will be attending ACSM at the end of this month and so CCTS better prepared me for this
conference! Looking at all of the other poster presentations greater emphasized that research is very
important to the growing medical field.
My research was on the parent/caregiver satisfaction of the knowledge of speech and language
services in children with down syndrome. This experience impacted me significantly as it showed me
that there are many gaps in our field. Advocating for our profession has now become one of my goals.
As I look forward to a future as a physician scientist, I am certain that the deeper I immerse myself into
research, the better my preparation for my future will be. In line with this, this experience has been
very rewarding as I have added some more things to my research acumen and I am certain they will
be of good use to my future professional life.
Being in research this past semester helped me learn to better manage the time i have.

How can we improve the undergraduate
research experience in the CHS?
Text Response
None
The worst part was getting started and not knowing where to begin. I had no idea that there was a
webpage with all of the opportunities, who to contact, etc. I think students would benefit from having
an information session about undergraduate research and how to go about it.
I don't see any need for improvement!
More direct contact with students about the opportunities available rather than just via email or
website.
No suggestions
There were a few platform presentations that I attended that ran out of seating room, so maybe adding
more seats would be helpful.
Monthly/regular checking in with both mentors and mentees to make sure things are going okay in the
labs.
At this time i think there could be no improvements.
