Discuss retreat
o
October 9-10th, food starts at 6 and we can check in at 3:00 PM on Friday; it
will be done by noon on Saturday.
o
What is the retreat? We plan the year, talk about what senate is, committees
come up with events for the year.

If you want to room with someone you can but you should not have to

YAY we did it
Student fee review committee
o
We need to set this up, Mark is in charge of it .
o
Dr. Cardenas (Vice Chancellor of Student Affairs), he sets up fees for each
school and accepts proposals for fees. We need to go through the fees and
make sure we are not being charged multiple times for the same thing. This
will save us money in the end. We need people from every school.
Recognition of outstanding Senators
o
Katie Williams: comes to every event and stays for a long time.
o
Eric Dong: nonstop volunteering and recruitment.
o
Kelli Sherman: sent everyone a senate meeting.
Vote on Case Competition/Discussion of protocol
o
We had voted to delay the vote.

We had voted to support this in the past – we thought it was valuable and we
are already supporting them
o
We will continue on what we already voted on and we will support them.
Health clinic at the wellness center
o
It is a little unorganized but they are working on it.
o
Skidaze is September 30th and October 1st , discounted fees on everything
and there will be snow cones!

Communication
o
Everyone should be communicating with class and deans – the deans don’t
really know what’s going on and we need to do a better job of
communicating.

Committee Sessions: we want 15 minutes for committee meetings every meeting.
Legislative Affairs- Sara Flubacher
o
Advocacy day is our main thing this year – spring
o
Sara is going to try to go to as many meetings as she can – a big focus is title

Also wants to organize something where she can bring senators to campus –
last year it was affordable care act with all types of providers
Women in stem – causal sexism in the workplace panal, October 20th
Finance- Mark Maeda
o
Controls $$
o
we use our funds to do things for the school
o
does PDA’s = you get refunded if you do stuff for school
o
heading finance committee – need one person from each school
NEED PEOPLE FOR FEE COMMITTEE
Sign in – it is important – you don’t get money if you don’t sign in – 3 unexcused absences If you cannot make it get a rep from your school so then it is NOT unexcused
Diversity- Naveed Hedari
o
Webinars – October and November – need to advertise – use as springboard
– we want to show people that senate is more then welcome Wednesday
o
workshop in feb = minority health conference
o
Outreach with north middle school – botanic gardens, zoo and museum. On
Wed October 14 from noon-1:30, lunch will be provided
o
Mentor field trips, Monday October 26th from 8:30-1:00 PM – the 7th graders
eat lunch and mentors did not have food – will use funds for mentors to have
lunch.
o
For each event want 10 volunteers.
Philanthropy- Cody Glickman
o
Philanthropy gala coming up – get involved with orgs
o
The Colorado chili open coming up
o
Habitat for humanity this weekend = $100 for food for 10 people
o
Health care drive – need people to place the bins and to promote
Student Life & Affairs- Zach Barrickman
o
Nothing planned yet but we will be planning stuff
o
Skidaze this week: it has been changed to a snowcone machine, time is from
noon-2:00 PM. We need volunteers, 2 each day from 1-2 PM**
o
Canvas and cocktails in October, also a haunted house, bagel bar
