Vocabulary
Dividend- the number that gets divided 18  3 = 6
18 is the dividend
Divisor – the number doing the dividing 18  3 = 6 3 is the divisor
Quotient – the answer to a division equation
18  3 = 6 6 is the quotient
Remainder – the amount left over if the quotient is not a whole number
20  3 = 6 r2 or 20  3 = 6 2/3 (we will master this method)
Division can be written 3 ways:
1. As a number sentence (equation)
2. With the division “house” symbol
3. As a fraction
