The Third Congressional District coordinated campaign is looking for interns to work at our campaign office in Grand Rapids. Interns will work inside a professionally run, fast paced, fun, county-wide, and state wide campaigns. Interns will gain valuable hands-on experience and make great connections as they work closely with top Democratic staffers at the campaign, Senate Democratic Caucus, city leaders, county leaders and the House Democratic Caucus to implement our winning campaign strategy.
Responsibilities
Interns are an integral part of the campaign team. Interns will be trained, given important responsibilities and held accountable for reaching goals. Each intern will be expected to work as part of a team dedicated to building a successful grassroots movement that will lead us to victory in
November. In addition to working on voter contact efforts – door-to-door canvassing, visibility at community events, and/or phone banking – interns will have specific responsibilities in one of the following areas:
* Field: Assisting the Campaign Manager with absentee voter contact, yard sign organization, volunteer organization, data entry, community outreach, and visibility events, etc.
* Fundraising: Assisting the Campaign Manager with donor research, database management, pledge followup, and event plan execution.
* Communications and Policy: Website, email and social media organization, research and writing tasks, design work, and media tracking.
* Office Assistant: operations management, scheduling, data entry, mailings, research, and various project management jobs.
Qualifications
Applicants should have a dynamic personality, excellent written and oral communication skills, solid organizational abilities and a strong work ethic. Ideal candidates will have experience with grassroots organizing and political campaigns, but such experience is not required. Applicants should be selfmotivated and have a strong interest in politics and a commitment to community service. Applicants
should be proficient in Office suite programs and GoogleDocs. Applicants should be willing to work at least six hours per week, although our schedule is flexible.
Third Congressional District Coordinated Campaign
The 3CD coordinated campaign works wit candidates for State House, State Senate, and County
Commission in Kent, Ionia, Barry, Montcalm and Calhoun County. All together we are working with and helping run 40 different campaigns. Work will include website development, literature design, message development, grassroots organizing, phone banking, voter targeting, and direct voter contact.
Information
The internship is unpaid, but the campaign will work with you to earn academic credit at your school or college. Interns will leave the campaign with a portfolio of work, a letter of reference, and the skills and experience to be employed on political campaigns and at governmental and non-profit organizations.
