Course Description: Students develop the ability to understand and use basic,
high frequency grammatical structures.
Course Competencies:
Competency 1: The student will demonstrate
proficiency when using the grammatical structures from
Level 1 (see Level 1 competencies).
Competency 2: The student will identify and
produce the following sentence structure patterns
containing grammatical forms covered in this and
previous levels:

Competency 3: The student will identify correct
examples of the following sentence structure
pattern containing verb forms covered in this and

or reason (e.g., after, before, because, etc.)
Competency 4: The student will recognize and use
the following grammatical forms in context:

High frequency irregular plural nouns

High frequency gerunds as subjects or objects

Subject, object and possessive pronouns, and

Attendance Policy: You should come to every class in order to
obtain the most complete educational experience. Participation in this
class is only possible if you attend class. If you arrive late to class it is
your responsibility to notify the instructor at the end of class in order
to change your absence to a tardy; otherwise you will be marked
absent. Please note:

Participation is an integral part of the learning process. ENGLISH ONLY
is spoken in our classroom
and active participation is stressed in
order to help you improve your reading, writing, and oral
communication skills. Your success in improving your English skills will
depend very heavily on your ability to practice English every minute
that you can.
Homework
Homework must be done on the day that it is assigned. You may be required to turn
it in or to use it for an in-class assignment or activity. NO LATE ASSIGNMENTS WILL
BE ACCEPTED.

If you are absent on the day of an exam with an excusable absence,
