Passage 1D: Greece’s Golden Age
During the 400s BCE,Greece experienced a tim of cultural progress. This time is known
as Greeces golden age. athens was the center the golden age.This time period marked significant
achievement in meny areas. Some of these areas include architecture painting, sculpture, and
theater.
Theater performances were a main source of entertainment. Outdoor theaters were
carved the side of hills. They could often seat up to 12000 people. There was a flat area at the
bottom wear the actors and the chorus performed.
They also had an advanced acoustic
system for the time. the Greeks wrote plays in poetic form. Their plays focused on comedy
tragedy
The art created doorin this time was for public enjoyment. it also served to show pride in the
city-state. The Parthenon is one of the best examples of Greek architecture during the golden
age? The parthenon is a white marble temple. It was to honor the goddess Athena. Athena was
the goddess of wisdom. There is a statue of athena inside the temple. It stands at 38 feet tall.
The physical form very important to the sculptors. The scolpsures created during Greece’s
golden age focused on the Greek ideal of beauty.
