Headline your journal page with “JOURNAL WRITE” 10/30 A day and 11/4 B day. Next, pick one of the CHARACTER questions below to answer thoughtfully. This question relates to the character in the book you are reading independently. In your journal, brainstorm how you are going to answer the question. This is evidence of thinking before writing your five-sentence (minimum) paragraph. Be sure to include examples and details in your brainstorm – then in your writing. Write a five- to six- sentence paragraph answering the one question you chose. After you have written the paragraph, underline all the adjectives used. Adjectives describe nouns (nouns = person, place, thing). You should have one to two adjectives describing every noun. You are being assessed on the quality of your writing. Remember: sentence variety in length and the way the sentence starts. CHARACTER (from your independent reading) 1. What is a gift that your character might like to receive and why? 2. Describe your character’s personality and give a physical description. How do you know these things? Be specific. 3. If this book were made into a film, who would play your character and why?
