Midterm project: Crime story 1. Write your crime story. You need to include each of the following points: (tick off the criteria which you have done to check that you included everything) You included one of the following crimes: murder, kidnapping, burglary into a well-protected building Characters in the story: Detective: should have a name and describe him/her with 3 precise adjectives. Look up adjectives and not include easy ones like: nice, pretty, interesting, etc. Underline the adjectives! 1 suspect: describe the motives of the possible suspect. Real criminal(s): use 3 precise adjectives. Underline the adjectives! Victim(s): choose a famous person, etc. Describe your victim(s) with 2 precise adjectives. Underline the adjectives! All in all, you should have 8 different and precise adjectives describing the characters in your story. Underline those adjectives in your text. Clues: you should have all in all at least 3 clues: 2 clues (draw paper slip) and 1 that you added yourself. Write those clues in bold. Write a good introduction in which you set the scene, we get to know some of the characters and get information about the place we are. It’s always good to use descriptive language which means use adjectives that link to all the senses like the following examples: sight: including colors, sizes and shapes, such as round, green, large sound: including types and volume, such as quiet, noisy, and banging smell: including scents and strengths, such as flowery, foul, strong taste: including flavors and strengths, such as tart, spicy, weak touch: including textures and temperatures, such as silky, damp, hot Include at least two adjectives that refer to what our senses can perceive. Underline them! Try to include past continuous structures where it makes sense (to describe the background, parallel actions and to talk about actions which were interrupted by another action). Use correct sentence structures (SB p. 22/34). Include the following things and write them in ITALICS. A sentence with objects. (SB p. 30) A complex sentence with “and”, one with “but”, and one with “so”. (SB p. 58/66) A simple sentence with two verbs connected with “and” and one with “or” (SB p. 62) Use correct punctuation, especially commas (check SB p.6). Use correct capitalization (check SB p. 10 & 26) Use correct prepositions. Print out one copy. Don’t put the name on the front but write your initials on the back of the paper!
