Define the problem: Research : look up issues you’ll need to understand to solve the problem. Record your questions, findings, and sources where the findings were discovered on a separate page & attach. Record your research AND reliable sources cited in your comp books. Explore : flesh out ideas by brainstorming multiple solutions, which must include scientific reasoning. Provides substantial research of the problem. Describe in detail 3+ possible solutions to the problem. Each solution contains scientifically accurate concepts in detail and a sketch of the design. Solution 1. Solution 2. Solution 3. Criteria- used to evaluate success. What could you look at to determine if your solution is working? Describe all criteria that must be met to claim success. Constraints– a limit on your solution and explain why it is a limitation. What are some of the constraints (other than cost) that may affect your solution? Describe all possible constraints and explains why it is a limitation Choose the best solution – based on scientific knowledge obtained from research, prioritized criteria and constraints or trade-off* considerations. Unintended consequences: Something that could happen (bad, but not always) as a result of your solution. Describe an effect on another part of the system. *Trade-offs: something acceptable but not ideal.
