Pick 2 nations we have studied to create a “recipe” that
illustrates the nature of modern nations in Latin America.
Think of the key elements of a recipe:
 ingredients, quantities, instructions, time, etc.
Think of cooking terms and how they might apply:
 bake, roll, knead, mix, stir, reduce,
blend, separate, etc.

their threats, successes, popular ideologies, and global
influences.
How would you translate these characteristics
into recipe form?
To serve as a brief example:
“Romanov Recipe for Disaster Before WWI”:
Ingredients:
1 inflexible autocrat
1 industrial program that brings people together in
factories
1 war against the Japanese
Directions:
Season with revolutionary exiles, Marxist tracts, and
generic persecution. Exploit people mercilessly. Beat
all these ingredients together. Finally, lose the war
against the Japanese.
Yield:
Big trouble.
