You are the CEO of __________________ Corporation. You are world – renown for the
________________ (your product or products here).
You have been offered a chance to speak to a class of high school marketing students about
the aspects of your company. You are to provide a DETAILED description of your company by
way of the 7 FUNCTIONS OF MARKETING:
 How did you arrive at the PRICE of your goods and/or services? Who are some of your
major competitors and what do they charge? How much do the item or ITEMS cost to
produce (raw materials, cost to make, etc) and what is your MARKUP?
 What ways do you employ PRODUCT/SERVICE MANAGEMENT in your company?
 How about PROMOTION? What avenues of PROMOTION do you use? WHY?
 What about DISTRIBUTION/CHANNEL MANAGEMENT? Where do you make your
__________________? Why there? Where do you sell your items (be specific!!)? Why
do you sell them there?
 What types of MARKETING INFO MANAGEMENT do you use and HOW? WHY?
 You employ a SALES FORCE (SELLING) to sell your item/items. How are they trained?
What are 3 principles on which all of your salespeople are trained on?
 How were you able to build your ‘capital’ resources through FINANCING?
You can either:
Create a paper to detail all of the ‘points’ you will discuss to the class or create a POSTER
that you will use in the class to show how your company uses the 7 FUNCTIONS to be the
‘TOP DOGS’ in your industry!!
Your entire presentation should be CREATIVE and fully detail the 7 functions !!!
