Thesis
 May be in multiple sentences in the first and/or last
paragraph
 Must fully respond to all parts of the prompt
 Restating the prompt is NOT acceptable
 Thesis is your answer to the prompt
Address All Parts of the Question
 Though not necessarily evenly or thoroughly
 You must address all parts of the question, but you may
expand more on certain parts over others
Support Thesis with Evidence
 Analyze a short phrase or characteristic in a document in
a way that supports your answer
 Direct quotations may be used but do not count without
analysis- keep direct quotes at a maximum of 5 words
long
 Utilize appropriate historical context to support thesis
