Newsletter 1/22-1/28
Dear Families:
This past week the students began our new Wordly Wise lesson 8. Students brought home their workbooks so they could do exercise 8B at home (due to the snow). We will continue our work with lesson 8 this week.
Additionally, we read and discussed more about the Civil Rights Movement in honor of
Dr. King. We also continued our read aloud of the book Ben & Me, practicing our reading strategies and our study of historical figures. Students this week will be focusing on the Declaration of Independence, important battles such as Valley Forge, and
Thomas Jefferson and George Washington.
Classes will also be utilizing the iPads to use an app called ChatterPix, a great tool to create brief audio visual clips for presentations. iPads of course, will also be used to practice our Wordly Wise words.
This month Our class was represented by Zoe Kings and Hipolito Ramos in the Shepherd
Spelling Bee. Congratulations to Zoe on her victory. We are proud of you both!
Please note report cards will be sent home on Thursday, January 28th.
Have a great week!
