to be colder b/c they
have less direct
sunlight

tends to be warmer b/c

• Tilted away from the
earth means less direct
sunlight - colder
• Cloud cover………
• Clouds block the sun
……temperature is
cooler
HEATING OF LAND AND
WATER
• Land heats up and
cools down FASTER
than water.
WHY!????
• Land is a solid!!
• Therefore water heats
up and cools down
SLOWER because it
is a liquid.
• That is why the oceans
are warmest in the fall
and coldest in the
spring
