Mrs. McInnis’s Monday Memo Here’s what’s happening in our class the week of November 30th: Reading- This week we will work on cause and effect in fiction books. They are also working on an independent project called a Story Wheel that is due next Friday. If the project is not completed in class by next Friday afternoon, students will bring it home to finish. Language Arts- This week in Writing Workshop we will continue our persuasive letters and continue the Jamestown letters. Science- We will start our Earth, Moon, Sun, and Planets Unit by discussing the Earth. They will have an Earth Quiz next Tuesday. Math- Students will focus on reviewing multiplication this week. They will have a Multiplication Test on Friday. Please review homework problems carefully with your child. Continue to study multiplication and division math facts too. Don’t forget Reflex and Dreambox as well. Reminders and important dates: 1. 2. 3. 4. 5. 6. 7. 8. We will be having a holiday party on Friday, December 18th, at 1:15. Thanks in advance again for making this a special time for the kids. More information to come! Remember to check the radio or local news broadcasts for any delays or school closings. If we have a homework assignment or a test assigned and there is a snow day beforehand or on that day, the assignment will still be due and the test will still take place the first day we return to school. The holiday sing-along is on the morning of December 18th as well. Please let me know if your child will miss any school leading up to our winter break or right after our winter break. Thank you to all of the students and parents who purchased books from the Book Fair for our classroom. I know we will all enjoy reading them! I have received many status updates from Reflex about students who have reached 100% fluency in multiplication and division facts! Great job! Check out my website for the Special Place Videos that were chosen by our grade level to be recorded. Our students were Manav and Isabel! Please draw a candy cane near your signature if you read the Monday Memo today!
