Happy Winter from the 4th
Grade!
We have had a wonderful start to the second
semester. There are a lot of exciting events
happening this month with the Word Masters
Challenge and our Geography Bee. Please make
sure that your child is bringing home, and using, his
or her planner every night. This will ensure that
assignments are completed on time. I will be
sending graded papers and notes home every
Thursday in your child’s Thursday Folder. Thank
you for all your support from home.

call, or write me a note if you
have any questions or concerns.
I have limited time during the
day to check my email, so please
call the school for emergencies,
last minute changes, or
disciplinary information. I have
continued to post grades on
Phoenix. Please take the time to
review these grades and contact
me with any questions.
Technology
Students will get the opportunity to use the Promethean Board to answer
and try out different problems in Language Arts and Mathematics. Also,
students will be getting the opportunity to use the computers to complete
a research project this quarter in Science by creating their own Weather
book using Publisher.
Student Expectations
Attendance
Please be sure your child is on time to
school every day. It is very important that
he or she is present in order to participate
in classroom activities and discussions. Of
course, if he or she is sick, please keep him
or her at home until they have not had a
fever for 24 hours.
Home Learning
Students will have a Reading Log to
complete every night. Your child should be
reading for at least 30 minutes every night
and responding nightly in their Reading Log.
In addition to reading, students will have
math home learning every night, and
should be reviewing Science/Social Studies
vocabulary.
Snacks
Students are welcome to bring a healthy
snack to have in the classroom.
Our lunch
starts at 11:30am.
American Education Week
Thank you so much for the volunteers
during our American Education Week! The
students had a fun time with all the

Academic Tip of the Month
The academic tip of the month is to help
your child review his or her multiplication
and division facts so that they become
more fluent in their math skills. We would
also like you to read with your child over
break so that they can continue to improve
their reading fluency.
