ATTRIBUTES OF VERBS Person Person refers to who is doing the verb. If a verb is 1st person, the subject is I or we. If the verb is second person, the subject is you. And if the verb is in the 3rd person, then the subject will be either he or they. Number (Verbs) Number refers to how many people or things are doing the verb. A verb can be singular, where one thing is doing the verb, or plural, where more than one thing is doing the verb. Tense Tense refers to when the action of the verb takes place. Latin has 6 tenses: present, imperfect, future, perfect, pluperfect, and future perfect. Voice Voice refers to the point of view of the sentence, In the active voice, the subject does the verb. In the passive voice, the verb is done to the subject. Mood Mood refers to the context of the verb, or the intent of the verb. The indicative mood is used for normal statements and questions. Most verbs in Latin are usually in the indicative mood. The imperative mood s used for commands. The subjunctive mood is used for wishes and other such things that are unsure or unreal. Some consider the infinitive to be a mood. The infinitive is the "to____" form of a verb. Conjugation A conjugation is a group of verbs that have similar patterns. Latin has 4 conjugations. When you write out all the forms of a verb, it is called "conjugating"
