WHAT is DECA? The mission of DECA is to prepare emerging leaders and entrepreneurs in marketing, finance, hospitality and management. DECA is a student marketing organization that works as a basic component of Marketing Education programs that support and enhance school and work based learning. The organization provides students with the proper skills, knowledge and experience to succeed in a global economy. DECA’s objective is to support the development of marketing and management skills in career areas such as hospitality, finance, sales and service, business administration and entrepreneurship. Programs and activities are tailored to the specific career interest of students and include technical skills, basic scholastic and communication skills, human relations and employability skills, and a strong emphasis on economics and free enterprise. DECA prepares the next generation to be: Academically Prepared DECA members are ambitious, high-achieving leaders equipped to conquer the challenges of their aspirations. Community Oriented Recognizing the benefit of service and responsibility to the community, DECA members continually impact and improve their local and broader communities. Professionally Responsible DECA members are poised professionals with ethics, integrity and high standards. Experienced Leaders DECA members are empowered through experience to provide effective leadership through goal setting, consensus building and project implementation. Any student who is enrolled in a marketing education class (Introduction to Business & Marketing, Sports, Entertainment and Recreation Marketing, Marketing I and Advanced Marketing) may join DECA. Your teacher can provide you with a membership form and will accept completed forms and payment until October 15th. Each year, the Loudoun County DECA Chapter sets membership dues based upon the costs for district, state and national affiliation, as well as a startup cost for the local chapter operation. The 2010-2011 dues for the LCHS DECA Chapter is $30.00. Dues entitle the student to the following: LCHS DECA T-shirt Membership in local(our chapter), state, and national DECA organization Social events for local and district chapters Opportunities to engage in professional development activities and attend participate in various guest speaker seminars Participation in all DECA community service projects Participate in monthly business or professional meetings Eligible to compete in DECA competitions on a district, state and international level (competitions incur additional costs) Eligible for DECA field trips The Loudoun County High School DECA Chapter will meet during Raider Rally on the scheduled date (To Be Determined) and on Wednesday mornings at 8:15 as deemed necessary. Morning meetings are often necessary due to community service activities requiring additional planning and coordination. Morning meetings will be announced in all marketing classes and information will be posted on the door of Room 103.
