The difference between a successful person and others is not a lack of strength, not a lack of knowledge, but rather in a lack of will. ~Vince Lombardi. Daily Procedures and How to Succeed in Algebra 2 Trig: 1- Be quietly in your seat working on your warm-up/starter activity as soon as the bell rings each day. 2- Take notes daily during lesson instruction. The rule for note taking: If I write it down, it is important!!! Use these notes as your guide to complete homework assignments and study for assessments. 3- Do your homework – In mathematics, in order to learn the skills, you must PRACTICE the skills. We will spend time at the beginning of class each day to discuss the homework and if you have completed work, it will allow you to ask questions and seek clarification if needed. If you fall behind in your homework, it will become very difficult to catch up. It is required for all students to show work on every problem in order to earn credit for that homework assignment. 4- Electronic devices should only be used when instructed. This includes headphones, I-pods, cellular phones, cameras, portable game systems, etc. An electronic device out in class at an inappropriate time will be confiscated – no questions asked. 5- Study for all quizzes and tests. Make flash cards, review your notes, and do extra practice problems to make sure you know each concept. 6- Math Lab is available for all students during every study hall block in room 206. Please utilize this great resource before you fall behind! I am also available by appointment before school. Do not fall behind – all concepts in Algebra build upon previously learned content. 7- This is an honors math class and you will receive a half a point bump in your GPA. This is a course that requires you to “think outside of the box” and may be challenging. Do not give up! You will need to put extra effort into this class. 8- Come to class ready to work and learn every day, and have a positive attitude about learning Algebra. Be actively engaged in each lesson – you will only get out of this class what you put into it.
