LESSON TOPIC:Ancient Rome and Judeo

Historical interpretation involves an analysis of cause and

Perspective helps to define the attributes of historical
comprehension.

Pennsylvanians today, and has impacted the United States and the
rest of the world.

of the United States and individuals throughout the world today.
UNDERSTANDING GOALS (CONCEPTS):
Students will understand: Major religious aspects of
the Romans. Students should grasp the concept that
the Romans were an ancient sponge soaking up
knowledge from other cultures then passing it on to
modern western society. The religion of the eastern
hebrews predates the Romans but comes into conflist
with them quickly as Roman power expanded beyond
Europe. From the religion of the hebrews comes
Christianity.
VOCABULARY: Messiah, Yaweh, messianic,
prophet, martyr, monastic life, triumverate,
praetor, consul, emperor, other vocab for the 9
weeks.
ESSENTIAL QUESTIONS: What connections can we
see between this culture and the great cultures we have
studied befor them.
How do these ancient peoples affect us and western
culture still today?
STUDENT OBJECTIVES

Students will be able to:
draw conclusions about causes of historical events
and their overall effects on the developmentt of
western Civilization.

speak Hebrew, read sections form the Old
Testament, view Roman teamples and masp
detailing the expanses of the Roman world.
