Health Care/Open Enrollment – Jessica Verardi
 Open enrollment is now until October 10. Rates go into effect January 1, 2015.
 See the Human Resources Benefits webpage for full details on the upcoming changes. One thing to note,
Enloe hospital is no longer included in the PERS-Select Network and that employees will pay higher
medical costs if used
 We encourage employees to review the new rate plans closely to see which plan suits you and your family
best.
Bullying Update-Tom Dimitre, Labor Relations
 Filed bullying charge on FMS 3 or 4 months ago and so far about 25 employees have complaints. The
Orion newspaper ad helped bring awareness to this serious issue. Anyone from any campus area with
concerns or who feels they are being bullied are encouraged to email Tom Dimitre directly.
 We are working on plans to have a Bullying Rally and hope to have at least 100 employees participate.
Details will soon be announced. News media, emails, flyers, etc. Other unions will be invited to help get
the word out that we need a policy approved.
 Q: Retaliation is a concern, what will the Union do?
 A: Retaliation is not acceptable. We continue to work with HR on this issue, however the President needs
to make the commitment and follow through. We are Stronger in numbers, now is the time to speak out.
 Q: In some cases it’s not just managers but co-workers doing the bullying. Does the employee get ahold
of you?
 A: Yes, contact a Bargaining Union Representative
 Q: Bullying is fairly new on this campus, is there another university that has a policy in place?
 A: Sacramento President has created a training policy.
Membership – Jessica Verardi, Organizing Chair
 Asks the group to encourage all your co-workers and those not here to become members and Get to
Vote. We need to band together to be one voice. Non-members cannot vote.
Update on Temporary Position Grievance/IRPs – Mario Mena, Immediate Past President
 Communication with President Zingg and Provost continues. The Provost & HR has created guidelines to
hire temporary employees to permanent employees and that information has been requested.
 Grievance to resolve workload, and IRP issues, inaccurate position descriptions, and other CBA violations
are pending resolution.

Employees are encouraged to document any new assignments and turn in old ones with the new. We are
looking and working on a solution.
