II Timothy
Comes after Titus
The end is near. Paul is in jail in Rome (11:16f). Paul expects the worst and is
ready for it. He urges Timothy to endure hardship and suffering. Christian life is
not easy.
Chapter 1
Paul reminds Timothy that earlier days were full of persecution and difficult to
follow Christ.
Some of Timothy’s background is in Ch.1. Mother and grandmother were
Jews and father was Greek. Paul urges Timothy to stir up the gifts of faith in him.
1:15f Paul has been alone during much of his time of trial.
Chapter 2
Paul urges Timothy to endure and suffer hardship even though it is unjust.
