Department Introduction:
FABS consists of FS Finance which manages and oversees financial resources and provides business expertise to
enable Facilities Services to achieve its mission and goals; Moving & Surplus, which coordinates the collection and sale of
surplus equipment and materials; Stores, which procures and dispenses the inventory needed for FS to maintain the UW
campus, and FS Technology Services, which administers information systems in support of Facilities Services’ mission.
Job Purpose:
Under the general direction of the Assistant Director for Information Technology, Finance and Business Services (FABS)
for Facilities Services (FS), the Computer Services Consultant 1 position is responsible for supporting Facilities Services
AiM workflow management training needs through the development and delivery of AiM training. The Computer Services
Consultant 1 will participate in Balanced Scorecard and Lean activities, develop procedures and methodologies, satisfy
various internal and external training needs, provide application assistance and perform related help desk duties within
Facilities Services.
Duties and Responsibilities:
 AiM Training development and delivery
 Develop, refine, and deliver training across Facilities Services to maximize the utilization of the AiM work flow
system
 Develop an expert understanding of all applicable AiM modules to facilitate a clear understanding of each module
use to enhance workflow delivery
 Conduct classroom and individual training facilitating learning, individual development, and knowledge of the AiM
modules
 Coordinate with Assetworks to maintain an up to date knowledge of all AiM improvements and functionality of all
updated versions of the software
 Troubleshoot the resolution of routine computing training needs for AiM utilization
 Participate in Lean and continuous process improvements to understand the gap of knowledge that requires the
development and delivery of AiM training
 Collaborate across the Facilities Services organization in order to gain insights for training needs in facilitating the
full usage of AiM
 Document the training development in support of continuous process improvements
 Provide information to active users of the information services on the capabilities and limitations of the AiM
software
 AiM/FS Works Helpdesk support
 Assist clients/users with both an online and telephonic helpdesk in the utilizing AiM and FS Works
 Provide technical support in resolving software training problems
Related Duties:
 Special protects, as requested by the Assistant Director for Information Technology
 Conduct trend analysis and provide historical information as needed
 Conduct special studies, and respond to survey requests as required
 Perform other duties as assigned
 Regular and predictable attendance is required

Required Skills, Experience and Knowledge:
 Two years of college coursework in computer science or a related field AND two years of experience in design,
development, or maintenance and support of software systems OR a Bachelor's Degree in a job related area OR
equivalent education/experience
 Experience with the AiM workflow, FS Works and information systems
 Experience developing and providing training in a classroom environment
 Experience establishing and managing multiple projects and priorities; strong written and verbal communication
skills; strong interpersonal skills, including problem solving and consensus building; excellent organizational skills,
accuracy and self-motivation; and demonstrated customer service focus
 Demonstrated ability to work well with technical and non-technical staff, and ability to communicate technical
information at a level the client understands
 Position requires a high level of self-initiated problem-solving skills and an ability to prioritize tasks to meet
multiple deadlines
 Ability to work as part of a collaborative team
 Have knowledge and understand of safe work practices and policies
 Must be able to follow written and/or verbal instructions and communicate in English regarding the use of
chemicals, supplies, and equipment; comply with safety policies and procedures

 Experience with facilities operations and support processes
 Experience working in the public or higher education sectors
