Dear Residential Parent,
The Department of Housing and Residence Life (HRL) at Tulane University has had an exciting
Fall 2014 semester! We are very proud of our newest Residential College which opened in
August of 2014. The Barbara Greenbaum House houses 269 undergraduate students, and
includes a Faculty In Residence, 45 seat classroom, and many social gathering spaces for
residents and the University Community. This addition to our inventory gives HRL the ability to
offer many more premium choices all of our undergraduates, particularly rising Juniors and
Seniors!
We are very proud of all of our residential communities and encourage you to discuss the options
of on-campus living with your residential student over the winter break. We continue to focus on
the needs of the upper-class students’ residential experience in our apartment style community,
our Residential Colleges, and our suite style Living Learning Communities. The Tulane
Community will continue to meet their residential needs by offering them the benefit of on-campus
living by:
Access to Services – Living in close proximity to campus offers students the benefit of being a
part of the University Community. Residents will enjoy one single charge each semester that
goes on their accounts receivable bill. This room rate includes electricity, cable/internet, use of
laundry machines, and refrigerator/micro-fridge.
Comfort and Security – Being a part of the Uptown Campus Community offers residents safety
and security from TUPD 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. In addition to Public Safety, your
student has a campus network of individuals who are concerned with you residents’ well-being.
Resident Advisors in the residence halls, Student Affairs Professionals, and other Tulane staff
and students form a community of care for your student.
Campus Environment – Unlike off-campus leases, residents have the option to change rooms,
roommates, or buildings mid semester or mid-year. As a rising junior, rising senior, or fifth year
senior, your student receives first priority during the Housing selection process. This means they
can retain their current room, no matter where they currently live and they can select a new room
before other students.
Your residents’ health, safety, and happiness are our top concerns and Tulane offers a
community dedicated to your student’s success. This winter break, talk to your student about the
convenience and advantages of living on campus next year. We will send your student detailed
information regarding the application process in February.
We hope you and your family have a joyous, relaxing, and safe Winter Break, and we look
forward to seeing your student again in 2015.
Sincerely,
Kim Montague
