The initiation of this potential partnership, the ongoing support of the project, and its evaluation and benefits will be discussed below. FUNDING ACTION PLAN 3 Funding Action Plan Analysis of the Strengths, Weaknesses, Opportunities, and Threats (SWOT) of the Jefferson City Public Library revealed a need for greater development in the professional collection. Specific areas such as resume writing, networking, interview skills, job searching, writing cover letters need to be increased and in some areas created. Then looking to the local market creating industry specific mini-collections, i.e. education, healthcare, electronics, technology, etc. Other helpful items may include leadership, communication and customer service skill sets. The library would agree to buy one title in each specific area and then seek a partnership with a local community civic or professional organization to help supplement the further development of this collection. August 11th the library director is speaking to the Jefferson City Rotary club. In this 15 minute presentation, the library director will share the resources and services on offer and reveal this recently identified need to the club. The library will ask request consideration of a joining the Rotary in a partnership, where the library will match the funds to a total of $600, $300 from the library budget and $300 from the Rotary. Each book will have a bookplate stating the purchase of this item was made possible through this partnership. In the fall of every year a press release will be sent to the local papers and placed on the library’s Facebook page giving thanks and sharing the benefits received through the partnership. Each year the library and the rotary will evaluate the collection, its circulation and determine if this collection, or another is in need of the partnership’s focus. This partnership offers benefits to the library, the Jefferson City Rotary Club and the community as a whole. For the library, the development of a professional collection is created and stocked to meet the needs of the un-employed and the under-employed within the FUNDING ACTION PLAN community. The Jefferson City Rotary Club assists in strengthening and educating its community as well as introduces itself to a wider professional audience by assisting in their development. The Jefferson City and County community gains skills and techniques to improve self-esteem, wage potential and secure career paths. References Jefferson City Public Library. (2014, June).
