Every Thais citizen who live in Thailand on the Census date (September 1, 2010) 2. All Thai government officials and their families who are on diplomatic posts overseas 3. Thais/non-Thais/foreigners, who have their usual of residence in Thailand but on the Census date they are temporarily overseas 4. Solved the problem on international migration • Developed a survey technique and outreach strategy for incorporating migrant population in Thailand’s National Census,2010. : Pilot study under technical assistance in 2008 by World Bank and IOM 22 Census of Population and Housing 2010: Challenges (cont’d) 4. Quality Control 1) Intensive training: theoretical and practical ( 4 days) 2) Field supervisors monitored the data collection process - Re-interviewing (2 households/EA) - Field editing to check for completeness and consistency 3) Center for Census Operation Follow-up 4) Questionnaire scanning by using ICR at each province, then a centralized editing was done by expert team (Manual and Machine Editing) 5) Post Enumeration Survey (PES) (Coverage error; 4% for population, 2% for housing) 26 Future Direction for Next Census 1) Try to use more of administrative data 2) Consider how to collect the data of the following issue: - It is hard to count people who move to the rental rooms / residence but did not register for residency in accordance with current living place. - It is hard to locate the homeless people and count for one time. - Some people have more than one dwelling / living place, it is needed to make decision for the most appropriate living place and count for one time. 27 Thank You for Your Attention 28
